Choose Righteousness

They that are of a froward (perverse) heart are an abomination to the Lord: but such as are upright in their way are His delight (Proverbs 11:20).

Anytime we deviate from what is considered right or good and know we’re deviating from it, according to the Bible it’s sin, and God hates sin. Some actions people commit, they know that it’s wrong, but they will continue in it.

Our actions will either bring life or death. Abomination indicates a strong dislike for something; God has a strong dislike for sin and it’s an abomination to Him. Sin is not categorized, there is no little sin, big sin, or in between. The wages of sin is death both physically and spiritually. This is why reading and studying the Bible is so important for Christians, it gives us the instructions of what is good and what is right as well as what is evil in the sight of God.

In order to please God, we must first know what He likes and what He dislikes, and the only way will know that is to spend time in His written Word. God never deviate from His Word. Even when we pray for different situations and circumstances, if God speaks to us, it will always line up with His written Word. We have to be able to discern from our spirit, Satan’s spirit, and the Spirit of God because all three of them speak (Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world – 1st John 4:1). When God speaks it will be according to His Word, when Satan and our spirit speak, it will be contrary to God’s Word.

As Christians, we’re always on guard for who were listening to, an example of our spirit and Satan’s spirit speaking is. Someone comes to you in the wrong tone of voice, the first things our spirit and Satan’s spirit speaking is “Don’t allow them to talk to you that way, who do they think they are.”? The Spirit of God will say “pray, discern their facial appearance. Allowing the Holy Spirit in you to discern whose spirit is talking, theirs, or Satan. Rather than speaking in a loud voice as they are, your tone of voice will be soft (A soft answer turneth away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger – Proverbs 15:1). A soft response will deescalate the anger.

Soft words does not mean you allow people to talk and do anything they want to you. The Spirit of God will give you what to say and how to say it when we allow Him to have control. There is a time to fight and there is a time to stand-down. When we have a close walk with the Father, He will tell us what is about to happen before it happens. Giving yo the advantage, knowing how to respond.

Knowing God’s Word will assist us in how to please God, and how to fight the adversary. Choose right over wrong, just because it may seem like the right thing to do does not mean it the right thing to do. Stay prayerful, communicate with God like He’s your friend with all due respect. Allow God’s Word to manifest itself through your behavior and character. Then it will be much easier to choose right from wrong.
