Resting In God

Come unto me, all ye that labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me: for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls – Matthew 11:28-29

A sinner’s peace cannot come from himself or herself, nor from the knowledge of feelings of accomplishments they have made. The richest person in this world does not have a feeling of inner peace without God. God has written a volume for the purpose of making Himself known, and it is in this revelation of His character that the sinner is to find the rest he or she is seeking.

People are trying to seek peace in things and in people that can’t give them what they are looking for, it’s only momentarily. Whereas God’s peace will carry you through whatever life brings you (Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid – John 14:27 ) God is a promise-keeping God, and what He has said, that will He do. God has declared Himself to be gracious, loving, and longsuffering. He embodied this grace and love in the person and work of His beloved Son, Jesus.

In order to trust God, you must first know Him, and to know Him is through prayer, reading and studying His written Word. Communicating with Him daily through prayer and talking to Him as though you were talking to a friend.

People are becoming afraid of what’s going to happen in the future because of things that are being demonstrated through worldly leadership, it does not matter whose in leadership our trust must be in God, God is still sitting on His throne, and He’s from everlasting. God has always taken care of those who submit themselves to Him and place their trust in Him.

Our peace, safety, and provision come from God whether people recognize it or not. When people turn from God and place their trust in people and other things, He will allow what they trust in turn them back to Him. God has not forsaken His people, His people have forsaken Him. They want to live as the secular world and yet serve God. According to the Word of God, His people have to forsake the world and its desire’s if they want to be His people. (Love not the worldneither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all  that is in the world the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life is not of the Father, but is of the world – 1st John 2:15-16)

The Father will always love His people, but He will not love their sins and accept their sins, they have to chose who they will serve, sin or God. No matter what is going on in your life, it’s not greater than God. Submit to Him and place your trust in Him and you will find rest for your soul.
