Anchor

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye be rooted and grounded in love. Maybe able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:17-20).

To be rooted and grounded in love is similar to an anchor, it’s holding on to God’s Word no matter how the enemy may fight you in your mind with unbelief. When we place our faith like an anchor, the Father gives Himself to us like an anchor. An anchor is a heavy object, usually, an iron weight with flukes, lowered from a vessel to prevent drifting.  It gives stability; an anchor supports, safeguards, gives security, protection, and defense. An anchor does what God will do for those who place their faith in Him. So many times we place our trust within ourselves and we make ourselves god over our lives and situations. There is nothing too hard for God, what is impossible with man, is possible with God. God is the One that can heal a broken heart, diseased and sickly body, regulate a confused and troubled mind.  God can heal and restore a marriage, open doors of opportunity that will bless you because the blessings of the Lord will make you rich and He will not add any sorry to it. When we try to bless ourselves and allow Satan to bless us, sooner or later sorry will prevail in what we thought was a blessing.

As Christians, our faith must be anchored in God, and not in what we see, feel or hear.  Without faith according to the Word of God, we cannot please God and this is why Satan comes to steal and kill our faith in God. The Bible is a book of promises to those who will place their faith in God. Anytime you place your faith in God, you will be tested.  Faith is what you know of God and not what you have heard of  Him, hearing and knowing is two different things. When you know Him, it’s faith, when you hear of Him, it’s belief. Abraham knew God, and his faith was in God and not what he was hearing of Him.  When you experience something for yourself, that’s what you will have faith in.

God called Abraham who was originally named Abram to leave his family and go to a land he had no clue where he was going or what it would be like to live in the land he was being sent to, but placing his faith in God, he knew God would never lead him in a place that would be detrimental. Like Abraham, we have to allow God to lead us, and sometimes where He leads us can be lonely, emotional hurt, and financial need, but like Abraham, we have to place our trust in Him; knowing that He will provide what we have need of.  God doesn’t want  His people to place their trust in anything or anyone more than their trust in Him.

Sometimes God may ask us to do something that seems to be senseless to us, but He knows what He’s doing.  In order to have faith in God, we must go through different situations and circumstances for our faith to grow. God gave the children of Israel a land that flowed with milk and honey; meaning it was a prosper land, but in order to receive what God had given them, they had to fight the giants in the land they were given. Your giant, maybe fears, anger, lust, unforgiveness, whatever your giant is, get anchored in God and His Word so that the giant in your life can be defeated. We’re on a journey, our destination is Heaven, there will be many ditches, and traps Satan will try to detour our trip, but when we’re anchored in the Captain of our ship (physical body), He will direct our footsteps, He will come to our defense, He will give us joy when we’re going through a tough trial or tribulation.  God can and will give you so much peace in your dilemma, that you will know God is in it with you otherwise you would have lost your mind.

We should get to know God better than we know ourselves because we will change, God never changes. He doesn’t panic or fear, and when we get anchored in Him, neither will we. We learn of God by reading and studying His written Word, the Bible. What we experience in life, will excel our faith in Him or against Him. Naturally, when we attend school in order to excel to the next level,  we must be tested to know what we have learned. Spiritually, we go through many trials and tribulation that will expand our faith and assist us to go the next level in the Spirit.  To go up, we must go through valley experience, but God will always be there with you to exit your dilemma.

Whatever you may be encountering, God never allows you to go through a test or trial without giving you the Grace to enter and to exit.  As we come closer to the return of our Lord and Savior, as Christians that have been born of the Spirit of God; we will be encountering more and more trials and tribulation to empower our faith and our love for others to experience God as we have. We will either have negative faith or positive faith, who we have faith in will cause us to triumph or be defeated. Anchor yourself in God and in His Word, and allow Him to be your Anchor.
