Sanctified

For both He that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of One: for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren – Hebrews 2:11.

Sanctification is a word most professing Christians don’t want to hear or talk about because they think it’s for a certain denomination.

Many professing Christians think as long as they attend church, pay their tithes, and work in a position at the church, that is all required of them. To be in the family of God, you must be sanctified. Sanctification is not a denomination; it’s a lifestyle.

Everyone who is not born a Jew is considered a Gentile, spiritually speaking. We were adopted into the family of God (Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will – Ephesians 1:5). Predestinated does not mean that God chose some to inherit heaven and others to inherit hell. God chooses those He knows will participate in His plan of salvation and extends it to all who respond in faith. The doctrine of predestination in Scripture relates to the foreknowledge of God.

Under Roman law, adoption was a common means of adopting an heir. It legally transferred a person from the natural father’s authority to the authority of the adoptive father. Because Christians are adopted sons of God, they can enjoy intimacy with their heavenly Father when they are in right standing with Him.

Many of God’s children are far from Him in their relationship because they want to be Christians but also want to participate in the world’s actions. Although we are free moral agents, we are, nevertheless, subject to His sovereign will and purposes for our lives.

God gave His Son to die for our sins in order for us to be reconciled to Him; without Jesus’ death and resurrection, we would still be alienated from God because of our sins. Jesus didn’t die so that we could continue in our sins. We were brought with a price, a price that neither you nor I could ever repay.

Christians are to be sanctified no matter what denomination they’re in. Holiness is for every denomination. We are the body of Christ, so then, being the body, do you think Jesus was participating in any of the actions of the world?

Some professing Christians are drinking, drugging, fornicating, adultery, attending secular concerts, listening to secular music, and other things the world participates in; these things should not be among us as Christians.

Christians are to be a holy people, meaning we are separate from the world’s actions; we have been chosen by God to be His people, and as His people, we must live a holy lifestyle (But ye are chosen generation a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light – 1st Peter 2:9).

How can we be light to a dark world when we’re participating in everything they are doing? What makes us different from them if we’re doing what they are doing? When we’re professing to be Christians, and we’re dabbing with the world, we’re playing spiritual Russian Roulette.

Our minds have been so full of the world’s information that many have lost sight of the things of God. God is still calling for His people to be holy and separated from the world’s thinking and actions. If the majority of what you put in your mind, spirit, and soul is the world, that is what you will produce.

When we sow to our flesh, it causes the consequences of eternal destruction (Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting -Galatians 6:7-8). Many professing Christians only read their Bibles when they attend church and don’t take the time to look at movies or programs that will feed their spirit or music that will take them to praise God. We will only receive what we place in our minds, soul, and spirit.

It’s like trying to take money from the bank but haven’t made any deposits. That’s the same thing spiritually when you haven’t made any spiritual deposits, you will not receive anything spiritually. You can’t hear or feel God’s Spirit. Your heart is not full of songs and praises to God. You can’t fight the attacks of Satan and his cohost, and they only come subject to the Spirit of God and the Word of God. If you haven’t been baptized in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit is not residing in you. If you don’t read or study the Bible, you can’t fight with the Word because it’s not in you.

Examine yourself with the Word of God and see if you are in the faith or thinking you’re saved when you’re not. Where you will spend eternity depends on your sanctification and your knowledge of the Father and His Son. You get to know them and what is required of you as a Christian by reading and studying His written Word, the Bible, and applying the instructions.
