For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls – 1st Peter 2:25  Israel was a chosen people by God, a people He wanted to bestow His blessing upon. Abraham was the forefather of both the Jews and the Arabs, but prior to being chosen, he served and worshipped strange gods like his father and his family. When God chose him, he was instructed to leave his country, his father’s house and family, meaning his extended family. Staying too close with those who were practicing idolatry would have been tempting and most likely influenced Abraham to continue to live his old lifestyle.

A idol is a image of a god, used as an object of worship; any object of ardent or excessive devotion.

Many of God’s people have turned to worship idols rather than worshiping God; while others try to worship God and their idol. Idols mentioned in the Bible were man-made images representing their gods. They were carved from wood, clay or stone and some were cast metal.

A Barren Ministry

Praising God, and having favor with all the people, and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved – Acts 2:47.

Barren is, to not be able to bear offspring, unproductive devoid, and this is what the church shouldn’t be. The church is a place where we should see the manifestation of the power of God in the midst of us, it’s not about how we shout, dance, skip, jump and run around the church, but it’s about the power of God moving upon the people of God to bring a change.
