The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own conceit (esteem) – Proverbs 18:11

There is nothing wrong with being rich, the Bible instructs those who are rich to do good, by giving and sharing with those who are in financial despair. The problem is the majority of those who are rich place their trust in their riches rather than placing their trust in the God who enabled them to get rich.

They think of their riches as being their strong defense. Even with  close security,  money cannot provide the security that God gives. Riches cannot give joy or peace of mind. The government may cease it, thieves may steal it, inflation may rob it of all value. Rich, but sick and can’t enjoy it, but God can do what money cannot. Hell is for the rich as well as the poor when God’s Word has been rejected.

For the love of money is the root of all evil, which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows – 1st Timothy 6:10
