And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart – Jeremiah 24:7.
In order to worship God in spirit and in truth, He has to change our hearts. If you ask people if they love the Lord, the majority of the answers would be yes, but because they haven’t taken the time to understand what God requires of those that love Him, they want to serve Him and still live according to the secular world.God loves everyone, and He has no respect of person. Even if we’re living opposite of the instructions He has given us to live by, He will still love us. There will come a time we will have to answer to Him why we didn’t submit to His word when He has given us instructions. In order for us to worship God the way He desires us to worship Him, He has to change our hearts. Every Sunday or whatever day people have chosen to gather to worship God; many will come to the altar to give their heart to the Lord, and as soon as service is over, the music has stopped, the minister is no longer ministering, Satan comes to steal what they had received from God.
Many times people come to the altar by their emotions rather than their hearts being changed to serve God according to His standards. This is the reason why after service people can continue to listen to secular music, sipping liquor, sniffing cocaine, shooting drugs, fornication, and whatever else the physical desires influence them to do because the heart hasn’t been changed. When the Lord comes into our hearts, He changes our heart from the desires we use to have for the secular world and gives us the desires of His Father. Our affections will be set upon things regarding heaven and God.
God wants our heart, but He can’t get our heart if we’re not willing to give it to Him whole heartily. He will never go against our will. Although God loves us in our mess, He wants our heart, and in order to enter into heaven, our hearts must be changed (But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake of which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death – Revelation 21:8).
In order to get our hearts changed, all we have to do is ask God to come into our hearts and destroy everything in it that doesn’t line up with His word. Ask Him to place His Word in your hearts, ask Him to help you to live according to His Word, ask Him to give you a hunger and thirst for His righteousness and He will give you the desires of your heart!
