But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish (covenant) His covenant which He sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish – Deuteronomy 8:18-19

In times of plenty, it is easy to take credit for our prosperity and begin to feel that our own hard work and cleverness have made us prosperous and successful, but it is God who blesses us with abundance, and it God who asks us to manage it for Him.God  instructed Moses to tell the children of Israel when they come into the land He had promised them, not to forget who brought them out of Egypt. Don’t forget who brought them through the Red Sea. Don’t forget who fed them with Manna from heaven. Don’t forget who kept them from the serpents and scorpions. Don’t forget who blessed them with their flocks and herds, wives and children. But they did forget, and sometimes we as the spiritual Israel we too forget that it was God who brought us to where we are now.

The homes we live in, it was God who blessed us. Our employment came from God, it was He who opened the door for the company to hire us. Our bank accounts comes from God, it was He who blessed us to have employment to have checking , saving, IRA accounts and so forth. Every thing we have is because God blessed us to have it. He gave us the wisdom to comprehend and achieve, the ability to achieve the tasks to be successful. Without God we would be nothing and we wouldn’t have anything.

The most valuable thing in life should be our relationship with God, and it’s free.  His requirements aren’t hard, all He asked for us to do is spend time with Him in prayer, and study His instructions from His written words. Fast in order to make our carnal senses come subject to the Spirit of God. He’s not asking much, and if we desire to please Him, He will give us the consistency we need to have an intimate relationship with Him. When I say initiate, it means to be able to go to God and tell Him everything. It’s like when we talk to our friends. The relationship we have with them, God also desires to have that same kind of relationship with us.

Thanksgiving should be everyday for those who are professing to be Christians, and we give our thanks by loving God, loving God’s people and being submitted to His Word and His principals. Don’t forget about what God has done! Life brings problems and issues, but God brings life and deliverance!
