Soldiers Come Forth

And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with  an over-throw (to destruction), making them and example unto those that after (afterwards) should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed (oppressed) with the filthy conversation (conduct)  of the wicked – 2nd Peter 2:6.

Sodom and Gomorrah were sin cities, whatever you wanted to do, who you wanted to do it with, and how you wanted to do it  – was condone. They were cities who didn’t reverence God or His laws, and their destruction was because they had forsaken the laws of God. God delivering Lot was giving us an example that God will deliver His own from the coming universal judgment. It’s God’s desire that everyone receives the salvation He has given us through His Son, Jesus. God will never make anyone accept His Son or their deliverance. God has given everyone an opportunity to receive salvation and deliverance, it’s left up to the individual if they want it. God drew each of us with loving-kindness (The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving- kindness have I drawn thee – Jeremiah 31:3.) Israel meaning in the Old Testament “people of God” as well as the Hebrew nation. They were people who weren’t born a Hebrew but served and reverence God as the Hebrews. Israel had backslid, and God was bringing restoration to Israel.

Although Israel was living a lifestyle that was sinful to God, He still loved them and He was restoring them to their rightful place with Him. God didn’t show hatred towards them, but He drew them with His love and His kindness. We as the people of God, in order to draw those that are living opposite of God’s instructions, have to be drawn with love. Actions of hatred will cause those who practice sin to not want to have anything to do with God or the people of God. Laws that have passed and actions that are acquiring is no surprise to God. Sin has been in actions ever since Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit. Believe it or not, there is no new sin, it just been brought out in the open. Whatever the Bible says is a sin, it doesn’t matter who condone it, it’s still a sin according to God and He will be the judge of every sin. God has the last word (For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil – Ecclesiastes 12:14).

We categorize sin; God judges all sin, no matter what the action of the individual was, if it’s opposite of His Word for the instruction of His people, then it’s sin to God. We as the people of God must love them, not the sin, and if the Spirit of God truly resides in us, we will love the sinner and hate the sin. As our Father drew us, we will draw them by our loving-kindness. Christians are paying more attention to the action rather than the root of the action. Sin is whatever it is through the satanic influence it’s coming directly from Satan, God is not the author of sin, but Satan is. People who practice sin must have someone to pray for them. We don’t have to tell the individual we’re praying for them, but we should always keep them up in prayer until God delivers them, or until He instructs us to stop praying for them. Some people don’t want to be delivered from a lifestyle of sin, and God will instruct us to stop praying, but until then, keep praying for them and showing them love and kindness.

Christians are soldiers, just as the military soldier looks and is aware of the enemy tactics, schemes, ditches, plots and those they have as a hostage, we should be likewise. When we begin to fast and pray, keeping in fellowship with our Father, He pours His wisdom, discernment and everything we need to fight against the enemy in the Spirit. Our fight is not just for us and our family, but those who are held hostage by the enemy. We can’t fight the enemy with our intellect or physically. This fight has to be done in the Spirit, and we can only do it if the Holy Spirit lives within us. Let’s stop looking at the sin, and fight against the root of the sin.

God has empowered every true believer to fight spiritually; the fight we’re fighting is not against flesh and blood, but spirits. The fight can only be won through the Spirit of God indwelling our human spirit. We must receive our directions from God, He will instruct us who to pray for and how to pray. Prayer is much needed, and the only prayer that can reach heaven is through the soldiers of God.  Soldiers can defeat the hand of the enemy and bring out the captives.
