Following The Cloud

And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud,  to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light; to go by day and night – Exodus 13:21.

The children of Egypt had been set free from the bondage they were in while living in Egypt. God made Pharoah set His people free, now they were on their way to the promise land, being guided by a cloud which was the Lord.  He’s the One that leads us into green pastures.Moses gave the direction, but as he received it from the Lord. There were two ways from Egypt to Canaan, one was a short cut from the north of Egypt to the south of Canaan, perhaps about four or five days’ journey; the other was much further through the wilderness and that was the way which God chose to lead His people. There were many reasons why God chose to lead them through the wilderness: God didn’t want to lead them in the way of the Philistines although it was nearer if the children saw a war they might return to Egypt because they were not prepared for war; they had just come out of slavery: The Egyptians were to be drowned in the Red Sea. The Israelites were to be humbled and proved in the wilderness, ordinances instituted, and covenants sealed.

The children of Israel wasn’t going into a strange land by themselves, God Himself was going with them. He led them by a pillar of fire at night and a pillar of a cloud during the day hours. God was there to lead them, He wasn’t going to leave them or lose them. God does the same thing for the Spiritual Jews, He never lead us in places where we can be lost or forgotten. Just like the children of Israel, we’re on a journey to the Promise Land, this land we’re headed to is much better than the land the children of Israel was going to; there is no end to it, we don’t have to fear, sickness, diseases, and death will not be existing in this land. But in order to get to this Promise Land, we must be led by the Spirit of God just as they were.

We need the leading of the Lord in every area of our life. Life brings issues, disappointments, sometimes sickness and diseases. When this occurs, it doesn’t mean the Lord has forsaken or lost us on the journey. The Lord is with us but we also have an Adversary that is trying to keep us from going in the direction the Lord will have us to go, so what he does is brings Scripture error, division, offenses and whatever he thinks that will detour our faith and guidance by the Lord. Just as the children didn’t move to the cloud moved, we have to do likewise. We have to be sensitive to the move of God, sensitive to His voice, and the only way we can do that is having daily fellowship with Him through prayer, reading and studying the Word of God.

In order to get to know someone, we must spend time with them. We can have such a close relationship with a person until we know their likes and dislikes, what makes them happy, what makes them sad. The connection can be so close until while conversating you will know what the persons’ going to say or react before you finish speaking. We should have the same relationship or better with God. In order to get to our next level, we must be led by His Spirit, in order to have victory over the enemy, we must be led by His Spirit. In order to deal with people and circumstances, we must be led by His Spirit.

Since the Pandemic, Christians have not been able to attend church, some has stop praying, reading and study the Word of God. In order to be connected with Him, we need to be able to talk to Him about anything. He’s there twenty-four, twenty-four to commune with us. Sadly to say, many haven’t talked to Him since the last time they attended church. When you can’t feel Him, read His Word. When you feel anxiety, praise Him. When you don’t know what to do, ask for His direction. It’s good to attend church, but if we attend church and don’t have a relationship Him, attending church will not send us to heaven.

If we ever we needed prayer, it’s now. We’re in the book of Revelation, and we’re closer to the return of Our Lord and Savior. He’s coming back for a church, without a wrinkle, blemish or spot. The only way this can happen, we must be connected to Him. Our dedication to Him and His Word is what cleanses us on a daily basis. Daily prayer keeps us connected to Him, God is still talking to His people, He’s still giving instructions and directions. Allow His Spirit to control your very being, that’s when you have dedicated and submitted yourself to Him and His Word.

Every journey you go on will not be pleasant, sometimes we go through deserts, when we can’t hear Him or feel Him. This is the time, when we should stick close to Him by reading His Word and prayer. Fasting keeps our spirit sensitive to His voice and His Spirit. Take time to spend with Him in prayer and praise. He dwells in the praises, seek to please Him, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
