Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.  And there are differences of administrations (ministries), but the same Lord – 1st Corinthians 12:4-5.

The Spirit that anointed Jesus is the same Spirit that anoints us. There aren’t two or three different Spirits, there is only one. There is only one Holy Spirit, one true anointing of God with many different ministries. When we have truly been baptized with the Holy Spirit and are filled, full and overflowing, we will have the same authority and power that was demonstrated in the life of Jesus.

This is part of God’s plan and purpose for your life. He didn’t plan for you to go through life fearful, discouraged, overcome by your circumstances, beaten down by the devil. God didn’t plan any defeats for you. He planned spiritual conquest and victory. He planned the same powerful Spirit within you so that you will be conformed and transformed in the image of His Son, whereby manifesting the same dunamis miracle-working power in your life as Jesus demonstrated.

Too many times Christians think being filled with the Holy Spirit and salvation is the same, but there is a difference between receiving salvation and being filled with the Holy Spirit. The disciples of Jesus believed and received salvation, but Jesus first breathed on them to receive the Holy Spirit (And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost {Spirit} – John 20:22). In this Scripture, the disciples are anointed by the Holy Spirit preliminary to being filled (But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth – Acts 1:8). Flesh can’t be made into the spirit, a person must experience a spiritual rebirth that is performed in the spirit and heart of man.

Many have taken the Scripture from Romans and categorize salvation and being filled with the Holy Spirit as being the same (That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation – Romans 10:9-10). One is not saved by his or her mouth’s confession, but rather, the mouth testifies readily of the grace of God in Christ which has been received by faith. The condition for righteousness is that it’s for being justified, and is internal faith. The condition of salvation, meaning deliverance from wrath and from the power of sin is an external confession, which is calling on the Lord for help, and strength to live according to God’s written Word.

Not being filled with the Holy Spirit doesn’t mean one is not saved, but they will not have the power of God living within them to conform and transform them into the image of the sons of God. Neither will they have the power to fight against unseen forces, such as ungodly spirits that influence and attacks the spirit, soul, mind, and body of those who are trying to live a godly and wholesome life according to the Word of God.

The reason why so many professing Christians are still participating in the things of the secular world is that they have received salvation, but they haven’t received the fulfillment of the Holy Spirit. Apollos was an Alexandrian Jew who had received the message of Jesus Christ but knew nothing of the Spirit’s coming.  Apollos was an eloquent speaker,  mighty in the Scriptures, and was a disciple of John the Baptist, but hadn’t heard of the receiving of the Holy Spirit until Aquila and Priscilla went to Ephesus and ministered to him about the finished work of Jesus and the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 18:24). In order for the Gifts of the Spirit to be in operation, there must be a filling of the Holy Spirit, this is why Jesus instructed His disciples then and now to ask for the  Gift of the Holy Spirit (If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him – Luke 11:13).

God is not limited by time and space. When people are born of the Spirit, they can commune with God anywhere. When filled with the Holy Spirit, we can be at work, processing our daily work and praying in the Spirit. We can be at church listening to the pastor and praying in the Spirit. Counseling someone, but praying in the Spirit. While we’re counseling, conversing with someone, but praying inwardly in the Spirit; this is what being filled with the Holy Spirit will allow the believer to do. It also builds our faith (But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost – Jude V.20. You can’t pray in the Holy Ghost (Spirit) if you have not received him.

In order to have the power Jesus intends for every professing Christian to have, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit. Then can we operate in the gifts as the Holy Spirit gives us; the first gift is the receiving of the Holy Spirit.
