The Builder of the House

“Every house is builded by some man; but He that built all things is God – Hebrews 3:4.

Hebrews 3:1 – Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus – The theme of the book of Hebrews is the superiority of Jesus Christ. Jesus volunteered to lower Himself and took on humanity in order to become our High Priest. (Psalm 40:7 – Then said I, Lo, I come in the volume of the book it is written of me). (Hebrews 10:7 – Then said I, Lo, I come in the volume of the book it is written of me to do thy will, O God). Based on the inadequacy of animal sacrifice, a conclusion is drawn. The author presents Psalm 40 as a messianic psalm, for only Christ could have fulfilled the prophecy of the book. The Old Testament prophets had warned the Israelites that sacrifice alone would not please God. He desired obedience as well. Jesus’ sacrifice was better than the Old Testament sacrifice.

Hear My Prayer

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged [relieved] me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer – Psalm 4:1.

As we approach You, God, we pray if there are any sins we may have committed against You, Your people or ourselves, we ask that You would show us our sins, forgive us of our sins, and deliver us from our sins. You are the God that we can confess our sins to, and Your Word has promised, If we confess our sins, He faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness according to Your word 1st John 1:9. Thank You for forgiving us of our confessed sins! Thank You for Your love and mercy. Thank You for Your compassion, and protection.

Make God Your Refuge

Be merciful unto me, O God be merciful unto me; for my soul trusteth in thee: yea in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge until these calamities be overpast – Psalm 57:1.

No matter what is going on in our life or in the world there is a safe place. It doesn’t matter if the storms of life rage all around you, you can be sheltered in protection and peace when God is your Refuge. Too many times people make circumstances and situations their god rather than making God be God over every circumstance and situation.
