Agree With Your Adversary

Agree with thine adversary quickly, while thou art in the way with him, lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison – Matthew 5:25.

Having to have the last word doesn’t make a person smart, but when we’re quick to hear and slow to speak, then we’re walking in wisdom. As born-again Christians, we must be aware of our adversary and know when he is using people. We’re not fighting against flesh and blood, but we’re fighting against Satanic influences.  Satan will use people to get you frustrated, aggravated, hurt and angry, and if you haven’t been delivered from profanity, you will be cursing. Satan’s goal is to keep you from having a relationship with your Heavenly Father, and he will use people to carry out his plan. A soft answer will always turn away wrath; a person will not argue if he or she doesn’t have anyone to argue with them. When you know you’re right, you don’t have to prove your point, sometimes in the following of peace with all men we will have to walk in humbleness in our spirit and if it takes being wrong when you know you’re right, be wrong; so you can live according to the Word of God, and in doing so, you’re allowing God to fight your battle.

Christians are fighting an unseen enemy, one they can’t see with their natural eyes. This is why the Christian has been instructed to put on the whole armor of God. Satan fights against us with our emotions and our thinking. If he can get your mind distorted he has you in bondage. He likes to bring division in relationships whether they are marital or friendship with others. He uses people that aren’t saved, carnal Christians or ones that don’t have a regular prayer life.  As Christians you must always keep in mind, you’re not fighting people, you’re fighting demonic spirits that have been assigned to you to influence you to disobey the Word of God.

We have been instructed to follow peace with men (Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord – Hebrews 12:14).  This means whether they are Christians or not, we must follow peace and sometimes when trying to follow peace it will cause us to be quiet it will cause us to react like Jesus. This does not mean we allow people to abuse us in any form, God does not want us to be abused. When we depend on the Father’s help it will cause us to depend on our Father’s help to be strengthened in our spirit and emotions not to retaliate. This Christian walk is not like the movies when the evil and wicked conquer, but with righteousness, you will always conquer! It’s a challenge to be quiet when people are persecuting you, but if you hold your peace, God will fight your battle!
