Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand – Revelation 1:3.
The Bible is one of the most purchased books, but one of the least read, and if read without the Holy Spirit one cannot receive a clear understanding of the Bible. The Bible has been stated to be contradictory as well as violent. It’s amazing how people can look at documentaries who gives the history of the Civil War and other wars but receives the Bible as violent when it gives the history of the different wars the people of God went through. The Bible gives history as well as the present and the future. The Bible is a book Christians should have read through countless of times, but yet when you ask most Christians how many times they have read the Bible they look at you as though you’re asking them about Mars or something else foreign. God communicates to us through His written Word, the Word is God, and God is His Word. With atheism, agnosticism and intellectual people deciphering the Bible without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit; Christians need to remove their Bible from the closet, dust it off and see what God is saying, to make sure they have a clear understanding of the Word of God, in order for them not to be influenced that the Bible isn’t authentic and change their beliefs in God and His Word.
How can we be an effective witness to the unbeliever, if we’re not familiar with the Bible ourselves? There are many Scriptures in the Bible as Christians we may not be able to explain, but as we pray and ask the Father for understanding and revelation, He will give us understanding and revelation. No one will never understand everything in the Bible, some things are unexplainable through human senses. What we need to know, God will reveal His truths as we desire to get an understanding of His Word.
Just as God needs a human vessel as an instrument to minister the Word of God to the unbeliever as well as the believer; Satan uses human vessels to distort the Bible to keep the peoples’ mind and heart blinded to the Word of God and the authenticate of God (But if our gospel be hid (veiled), it is hid to them that are lost. In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them – 2nd Corinthians 4:3-4). The Bible is something each Christian has to read for themselves and know the truth about it.
It’s good to have preachers and teachers to minister the Word of God, but God is holding every Christian responsible for taking the time to read the Word of God. Christians should also study the Word of God to receive a better understanding of the Bible; this is the reason why we have so many different doctrines because people relied on someone else’s teaching rather than reading and studying for themselves (Study (be diligent) to show (present) thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth – 2nd Timothy 2:15). The Apostle Paul was appealing to the disciples then and now to properly interpret the Word of God with a spiritual understanding.
The difference between the natural man and the spiritual man is primarily that the spiritual man has founded his or her in faith in God and His Word whereas the natural man, better known as the unbeliever is placing their faith in themselves and their intellect. People who are spiritual can discern what is and what is not of the gospel and salvation, and whether one is truly preaching the truth of God. God’s Spirit will also allow you to discern if one is truly preaching the Word of God, but is not living according to what they’re preaching. There are many doctrines being taught, but the doctrine isn’t by the Spirit of God. It’s the Holy Spirit that dwells within us that teaches and gives revelation.
It is the Holy Spirit that brings things back to our memory the things God has spoken in His written Word if the Word of God hasn’t been planted in our spirit, the Holy Spirit cannot bring something back to our memory what’s isn’t there. Think about it, when you look at your favorite program or read your favorite book, you will remember the characters because it’s been programmed into your mind, well that’s what the Word of God does when it has been programmed into your spirit, you can remember Scriptures, you can remember the acts of God, Jesus, and the Apostles. The Bible came from God, He used about forty men in writing the Bible. The writers simply wrote down what God had told them or shown them (All scriptures is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction for instruction in righteousness – 2nd Timothy 3:16).
God did not inspire all who copied or translated the Bible as He did with the original writers so that they couldn’t make mistakes. It is evident that both copyist and translators could and did make errors, but none of these cases have an effect on our Christian faith or life. Whatever error may have been made in copied or translation, the Holy Spirit will give revelation. This is what unbeliever uses to make their denial of God truth for them, but if they really desired the truth, as they ask for understanding God would give them clarity of His Word and the authenticity of Him being God.
The Bible is not a book of does and don’ts; just as someone would read their manual for their computer, car, or lawn mower to get an understanding of how to operate it prior to using it, it’s the same way with the Christian life, as we become Christians, we must read and study the Word of God to receive His instructions for our lives, to enable us to have a better and more productive life as well as lifestyle. The five books of the Old Testament is the Books of Law, they trace God’s dealing with mankind from the beginning through the flood of Noah’s time. The books of history begin with Joshua and end with Esther. Books of poetry, and the books of the prophetic. The New Testament consists of the four Gospels, history, letters, and prophecy. The writers of the four gospels are similar in viewpoint. Matthew seems to have been writing especially for Jews who knew the Old Testament. Mark writing appealed to the active Romans. Luke appealed to the cultured Greeks. John tells many of the same events but concentrates on things not already told such as the new birth, the receiving of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible is an interesting book that will instruct the believer to better their relationship with their heavenly Father. The Bible is the only book that changes your heart and spirit if one allows it. Jesus is not delaying His return, as Christians, we need to be aware of not only of His coming, but the tricks and schemes of Satan to distract us from following the doctrine of the Bible. Satan and his falling angels are waiting to steal, kill and destroy the relationship Christians have with their heavenly Father, if it were not so, the Bible would never have instructed us were not fighting with flesh and blood (For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places – Ephesians 6:12. If Satan can’t influence you to sin, he will keep you busy with distractions.
He will keep you focusing on things that will not and cannot edify your spiritual man. It is time for those that are professing to be Christians to intensify their prayer life, intensify their life of fasting, reading and studying the Word of God. God is waiting on us to thirst after Him, to thirst to see the manifestation of God in our life as well being used by God to manifest Himself to the believer as well as the unbeliever through us, His vessel. (I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus – Philippians 3:14). God never changes, He is the same today, yesterday and forever, His Word is established in heaven meaning there will be no editing or revision of His Word. The only One we can truly depend on is God and His Word, the Bible.
The Bible is for the professing Christian to know the Father and His will. His will is His Word and His Word is His will. Many prayers haven’t been answered because the professing Christian doesn’t know God’s will. We can’t ask for something that is not His will, but if we know His Word and pray His Word we will have our prayers answered. Read the Bible, study the Bible, live according to the Bible if you want your prayers to be answered and if you want to make sure when you die you will be in good standing with the Lord.
