Giving

Give, and it shall be given unto you good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete withal it shall be measured to you again – Luke 6:38.

False prophets and false teachers have used this Scripture to get money, and because so many gave and didn’t receive the blessings that were told them, they stop giving, and they stopped the flow of their blessings. Giving is not always about giving money.

When the word give is mentioned, people have a tendency to draw up, some become irritated and some will just say no, I’m not giving. Giving comes in many forms and if we give as God’s written Word has instructed us we will receive a blessing. Giving should not be on terms I’m giving so I can get, but I’m giving to be a blessing to someone else. As believers, we shouldn’t think and do as the world, but do it with a righteous motive.

When God commanded Moses to tell the children of Israel to bring an offering to the Lord; they brought it with a willing heart (The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the Lord, every man, and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work which the Lord had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses – Exodus 35:29.

In order for a ministry to be successful, there must be people who are willing to give. The ministry has obligations just like our home has obligations. There are bills to pay such as utilities, mortgages, salaries, and so forth. It’s the responsibility of the congregations to keep the church aflow with their finances. It keeps the doors of the church open so people can come and worship, receive healing and deliverance. This is why it is so important to give monetary gifts.

Another way to give is with our time in assisting the ministry with whatever we can do to be a blessing. We can give time in praying for the ministry and the congregation, praying for the pastor and leaders. Give our time in praying for others that are in need of prayer and deliverance and blessings. We can give kindness to others in the church, place of employment, neighborhood, schools.

We can give love to others just as God has loved us. We can give ourselves to God as an instrument He can use to bless others. We can give by complimenting others, giving a listening ear when someone needs someone to listen to them about their concerns and situations.

Giving a phone call to someone checking on their well-being. Give someone forgiveness when they have hurt you. Give someone the ride away when they want to get in front of you without showing facial expressions or finger movements!

Giving and elderly a helping hand by mowing their lawn or shoveling their snow. Giving a single mother time to herself without having her children. Giving dinner to someone that is in need or clothing to someone that is in need. These are different forms of giving and there is no way we can’t give and God will not return to you a blessing!
