Walking In Agreement

Can two walk together, except they be agreed – Amos 3:3

The children of Israel wouldn’t regard the words of counsel that God had spoken to them, and now they shall be made to hear the word of reproof. It is necessary that God should vindicate His own honor by making it appear that He hates sin and hates it most in those that are nearest to Him.

They could not expect any comfortable communion with God unless they first made their peace with Him. Where there is no friendship, there can’t be fellowship. The prophets who had given them warning of judgments approaching delivered nothing to them but what they have received from the Lord (Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but He revealeth His secrets unto His servants the prophets – Amos 3:7). The secret of God is in a peculiar manner with the prophets, to whom the Spirit of prophecy is a Spirit of revelation. The prophets were to make known to the people their sins and the judgment of God if they continued in their sins.

People have resented pastors and spiritual leaders when they begin to speak against sin among the congregation, and because the words would be so profound in when, where, and how the sin was committed, people would think the minister was speaking directly about them.

Ministers and lay people should confront those they know in the congregation who are committing sin; this confronting can help people not to receive the wrath of God as well as enter hell if they die while in their practicing sin.

No one enters heaven without true repentance, asking God to forgive their sins and save them. This applies to those that are professing to be Christians as well as the non-believer.

What was happening, God was revealing to the minister what was happening in the congregation, and it’s the responsibility of the minister to speak what God is given them to warn His people prior to judgment coming upon them. God hates sin, especially when people profess to be Christians.

Before judgment comes upon anyone, God will always warn them of their sin, and if they continue in it, the sin will be revealed in public, and judgment will occur.

Sin will keep God’s people from having fellowship with Him; unconfessed sin will also bring a hedge between God and His people. We all sin, whether it’s in words, deeds, or thoughts, but when the Spirit of God brings our sins to our thoughts, we need to repent immediately and turn away from the sin.

Walking uprightly before God will bring an agreement; the individual is agreeing with God’s word to live by them. Walking in agreement with the Word of God will also bring blessings (If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land – Isaiah 1:19).

There is a time to agree and a time to disagree. When sickness, disease, torment, depression, and other infirmities attack our body, we have to be in disagreement with it and agree to the Word of God that we’re healed by the stripes of Jesus (But He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed – Isaiah 53:5). With His stripes refers to our spiritual condition being made whole, it also indicates for our physical healing as well (And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching that gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people – Matthew 4:23).

There are times people will not be healed divinely, and they pass. No one knows why God heals some and others He has them to come home, only God knows, but if the person is a true Christian, they are going to a much better place! Some receive salvation on their deathbed, no matter how long they lived as a non-believer or practicing sin.

Don’t take the chance of receiving salvation on your deathbed; that’s playing Spiritual Russian Roulette, you may not make it to heaven but hell to live there for eternity.

In order for God’s Word to be effective in our life, we have to come to an agreement with it by submitting to it and believing it. There are times people will not be healed; it’s not because they didn’t have enough faith, no one knows why some people are healed, and others are not,  but one must be in faith for healing until God says otherwise.

We don’t have to be in agreement with torment, anxiety, confusion, depression, oppression, suppression, or any other infirmities Satan tries to influence us with. If we agree with it, Satan will give it to us, but if we disagree and agree with God’s Word, Satan has to flee along with his ungodly influence. Trust God, agree with His Word, submit to His Word, and receive what His Word has promised.
