Prepare For The Battle

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles [schemes] of the devil – Ephesians 6:10-11.

Christians are soldiers of Jesus Christ; soldiers must fight and be aware of their surroundings. They need to know whose the enemy and how to fight against the enemy. Whether you want to fight or not, the battle is coming, and you need to fight.

Most professing Christians have no idea they have been called to a spiritual war. Many think life will be a breeze because they have accepted salvation, and there will be no more pain or disappointment. They will skip their way to the Promise Land.

Every Christian has an enemy; His name is Satan; Satan has co-hosts that he assigns to you, your family, communities, cities, and states. He can’t be in every place at once like our Father, so he sends his co-host to watch and to try to influence you to be disobedient to the Word of God, or he comes to suppress, depress and oppress you.

God gave Daniel a vision of the end times; after seeing the vision, Daniel began to fast and pray for his people. After twenty-one days, Gabriel, one of God’s angels, informed Daniel when he first prayed, his prayer was heard, but the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood him to give him an answer to his prayers.

The prince of Grecia and Persia were demons who worked in those nations to oppose God’s people. Demons are spirits, and they don’t die; the same spirits that were around in Daniel’s dispensation are around today.

Satan and his co-host come to kill, steal and destroy the people of God. Many times there is a delay in you receiving an answer to your prayers because one of Satan’s angels has upheld the answer. Many actions people carry out are because of the influence of demons.

Satan will speak lies to bring discord between husbands and wives, siblings against one another, and church members. When a thought comes to mind or words are spoken, compare the thought and words with the Word of God. Don’t fight the person; discern the spirit speaking through that person, and take authority over it.

To defeat Satan, one must know the Word of God and have on the armor of God. Your loins must be guarded about with the word of truth. Meaning you know the truth of God’s Word. His Word is true and reliable.

Having on the breastplate of righteousness means a righteous life before God. One can’t be living a carnal lifestyle and think they can have the authority of demonic spirits. If you’re playing with the enemy, you can’t defeat the enemy. God’s Word must be in your heart so that you will not practice sin.

You must have your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. This means you will follow peace with all men with godliness; without, no man shall see the Lord, and no one can approach Him. God is righteous, and His people have to be righteous.

You must have the shield faith, which means taking God at His Word and believing His promises. Nothing or anyone can shake your faith or make you disbelieve that God is not who He says He is, and He can make the impossible possible.

You must have the helmet of salvation, meaning you’re a Christian living a Christian lifestyle according to the Word of God. You must have the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. If you don’t know the Word of God, you can’t live by the Word of God neither can you fight with the Word of God if it’s not in you.

Praying in the Spirit means you have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, and He prays through you for the things God wants prayed for. He will pray against Satan and his co-host, and they will yield to the Spirit of God and the Word of God.

Christians must be armed with the armor of God to fight against Satan and his co-host. When Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy, you must fight for what God has given you if you want to keep it. You fight with the Word of God and the Spirit of God.

As Christians, we fast and pray; fasting help us to be sensitive to the Spirit of God and the spirit of Satan. It also enables us to control our fleshly desires and bring our bodies to be subject to the Word of God. We don’t look or listen to words and actions that would be offensive to God or make us stagnated in growth spiritually.

When your spirit becomes weak because of what you’re listening to and looking at, you’re not fit for the battle because you’re engaging in the enemy’s territory. You have become a friend of the world and Satan (Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father, but is of the world – 1st John 2:15-16).

Lust of the flesh is allowing fleshly desires to control rather than our spirit. Lust of the eyes is we’re allowing our eyes to look at ungodly actions, or whatever our eyes see that we want, we will go after it even if an abomination or offense to the Father. Pride of life is when one cares more about the things of the world rather than their spiritual life.

If we love the things of the world, we can’t fight Satan; although one is living for him does not mean he will not attack you, your family, or your possessions. Satan will lead, guide, and influence you until he makes you lose ground with the Father. When you lose ground with the Father, you have nothing to back you up. God said He’s our Rearguard, meaning He’s surrounding us in every area of our lives and beings, but when sin is practiced, the hedge is removed, and He will allow Satan to afflict you because that’s who you choose to serve.

When we present ourselves to God to live according to His written Word and instructions, He empowers us to fight against the attacks of Satan (Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you, but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven – Luke 10:19-20). Jesus has given us authority to use His name, and He has given us the shedding of His blood to use against the enemy, but if we’re living carnal lives His name nor His blood will accomplish what it’s meant to be because the sin you’re practicing has made it non-effective Satan for you.

There is nothing in this world that is worth your soul. We’re spirit beings, and when we die, we will either live in heaven or hell, where the spirit will never die. Leaving in heaven, we will be with the Father and the Son, living in hell; one will be with Satan and his co-host living in torment.

When Satan comes to influence you with actions that go against the laws of God, you must fight the good fight of faith. You must be determined to live according to God’s Word, and you will not allow Satan or anyone else to influence you to sin against the Father.

You must be spiritually equipped to fight against the spirits of darkness, and you can only do this by submitting yourself to the will and the Word of God. When the enemy comes against you and your family, you will have God and heaven host fighting for you.
