His Body

What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s (1st Corinthians 6:19-20).

Those of us who have accepted Jesus as our Savior and Lord have signed a spiritual contract, agreeing to abide by the rules and regulations of God’s written Word.

The Bible was written for the believer, those who have been engrafted into the family of God. The Bible is our instructions to please God and how to live a prosperous life. Sin is anything opposite of what God has instructed the believer to live by. Sad to say, but many who are confessing to be Christians are living the opposite of what God has instructed them to live by.

To live according to His Word, we must read it to know the instructions. Don’t be faithful to church and faithless to serving God by not submitting to His Word. We have been bought with a price; our bodies don’t belong to us, and we can’t do anything with them.

It’s dangerous to continue to attend church, listen to the Word of God, and continue to sin against the Word of God. Know His Word, and live according to His Word. Satan has fooled many, having them thinking they can attend church and live according to the world’s standard and still enter into heaven.

That’s a lie; take time to read and study the Bible. It will give you the truth; every time you read it, you can relate to it, needing more of Him and less of us. God will never instruct one to do something without empowering them to do it (According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue – 2nd Peter 1:3).

We must read and study the Word of God to get to know who we are. God has given us a portion of His Spirit living within our beings to empower us to live according to the Word of God. This empowerment comes through the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

No one can abstain from sin without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit; this is why Jesus instructed His disciples to receive the Holy Spirit (If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him – Luke 11:13)? The Father has empowered believers through the Holy Spirit to live a godly lifestyle.

Christians are the body of Christ; if we’re the body of Christ, then we need to live as Jesus lived. He had no part in the world’s actions but lived to please the Father. Christians are in the world, but they are not of the world (They are not of the world, even as I am not of this world – John 17:16). Christians shouldn’t be influenced by the world, but the world should be influenced by Christians.

We should live such a Christian lifestyle that people see the difference in us without us telling them we are Christians. How can we minister to nonbelievers if we’re doing the same thing they are doing? Many Christians love the world’s actions, although we have been instructed not to love the world (Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him – 1st John 2:15).

Some professing Christians practice the world’s actions and wonder why they seem to be in the same spiritual state as when they first received salvation. This is because they gravitate to the things of the world, their actions, entertainment, movies, and music. Spiritually, they only participate on Sunday after service; they rejoin themselves to the things of the world.

Christianity is a daily lifestyle; we focus on things that will please the Father. When you truly love someone, you seek to please them; worshiping and serving the Father should be the same. The Father doesn’t want part-time worshipers; He’s seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth.

Jesus is returning for His church; we must be prepared for His coming, spirit, soul, and body. Make it a habit to pray, fast, read, and study the Word of God, and apply its teaching to your lifestyle daily.
