Light of the World

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:14, V.16).

To minister is not just behind the pulpit; daily, we’re ministering to others through our conversation and behavior. The world is in a chaotic state because Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded their eyes to the truth.

The world is looking for something other than someone saying, “I’m a Christian.” Many professing Christians have been found to be liars, fornicators, adulterous, and child abusers and have made the body of Christ look like every professing Christian is a hypocrite.

Christianity was once looked upon with respect and reverence because of who we were and who we were representing, but now, the world has lost its respect for Christians because those who were hiding behind the name have brought an approach to the name.

Sisters and brothers, Satan uses people to do his work for him;  just as God needs a body to manifest Himself through, Satan has human agents to manifest themselves to bring disgrace to true Christians. People are watching you, whether you realize it or not, when you say or demonstrate yourself as being a Christian.

Christianity is not saying, “I’m a Christian,” but it’s showing the nature and characteristics of our heavenly Father. Our biggest tract is our life; it’s what we show the world.  Can someone come into your presence and see and feel the difference in your life?

If not, it’s time to return to the altar. The Fruit of the Spirit should manifest in our life (love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance). This is what should be manifested through us as Christians; it comes into manifestation by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is given to those who will submit themselves, spirit, soul, and body to God.

The world is in the shape it’s in because we, as Christians, aren’t mindful of the things of God. We have set our affections on money, fame, education, houses, cars, and businesses. There is nothing wrong with any of these when we have them in the right perspective.

Most Christians don’t read the Bible until they are in church; many will not pray for days and months, and when they do pray, it’s about them and their family. This is why Jesus instructs the disciples those who would follow Him would have to deny themselves. He said men, including women, should pray always and not faint, meaning they will not give up; they will not lose faith.

It’s not about us; it’s about being a vessel the Holy Spirit can use to pray through to destroy the works of  Satan in the lives of the believers as well as the nonbelievers. When we pray as we should, it’s manifested in our speech, behavior, and our lifestyle.

We as Christians should ask ourselves, are we being a light in dark places, in our homes, schools, place of employment as well as the church? We can’t serve God and Satan; we must choose which one we will be servants to.

Did you know whoever you obey, God or Satan, you will be their servant (Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death or obedience unto righteousness – Romans 6:16)? We can’t survive as Christians if we don’t stay connected to God.

We stay connected to God by a persistent prayer life, fasting, reading, and studying the Word of God. Attending worship service and Sunday School is where you will get the foundation of being a Christian. Attending Bible Study is where you get taught the Word of God. Sunday’s are usually preaching, exhorting you to have faith and exhortation.

You’re not going to receive what you need by staying at home watching Christian television. First of all, we have been instructed to attend church service (Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another: and so much the more as you see the day approaching. For if we sin willfully, after that, we have received the knowledge of the truth; there remaineth no more sacrifice for sin – Hebrews 10:25-26). Satan will influence you that you don’t have to attend church. When you don’t, you’re being disobedient to the Word of God. Disobedience is sin, and the wages of sin is death.

Sadly, most professing Christians have never had God give them a visitation in their home because they have lost their love for God. They would rather watch television, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Following people when they should be following God.

The more we spend time with God, the more we will become the image of Him. If everything is played in your house, He’s not going to visit; He visits homes that have been dedicated to Him. Homes where He’s welcome.

We are the light in a dark world full of hatred, self-centeredness, and all the evil Satan came to bring. He’s bringing it to make people believe there is no God, making them stop believing or believe there is a God but want to live according to what their flesh is, making them desire and crave.

Although God is Sovereign, He has placed us in the world to be a light, not to be in the world and become like the world. We are the hands and feet of God. The world will not experience genuine love unless it comes through us as Christians.

The world is looking for help, and God has saved us to draw them to Him, not away from Him! If I’m doing everything the world does, how can I minister to them about God? When we submit ourselves completely to God, He will use us to minister life to a dying world.

Jesus will be returning for His church, but in the meantime, God needs holy vessels He can use to show Himself through. God is preparing His army to show the world who He is. Present yourself to Him wholeheartedly. Be an instrument God can use, being a light in a dark world!
