But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost (Jude- V20).

 Prior to Jesus’ departure back to the Father, He instructed His disciples, He was going to send them a Comforter, one that would abide with them forever.

The Comforter, He was speaking about was the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit. Nicodemus, ruler of the Jews came to Jesus and inquired of Him, how would one enter into heaven, Jesus informed Nicodemus a person has to be born again of the Spirit?  Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a teacher, a member of the Sanhedrin. He knew the Word of God, but didn’t have the Spirit of God indwelling his physical being. Jesus instructed Him he had to be born of the water and of the Spirit.

Nicodemus was like so many Christians who believes in the Father and the Son, but have not received of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. When the Spirit of God enters our being, He goes into every corner of our being and clean house. The Holy Spirit is more than speaking in a language we don’t normally speak or dancing and shouting. He is a part of God, and He comforts, direct, teach, reveals, discern, rebuke and assist in our relationship and communication with the Father. 

We have to do more than believe, but we must receive us His Spirit (But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his (Romans 8:9). The Holy Spirit places the believer as a son in God’s family. The Holy Spirit assist us in having an intimacy relationship with the Father. We get to know His character, we place our trust in Him, and we communicate with Him daily. We talk to Him about anything and everything because He has become our companion.

Many times people join church, but they don’t join themselves to the Father, who can make them one with the Father and Son through the receiving of the Holy Spirit. Conversion refers to the human response to the gospel whereas regeneration is God’s creation of a new nature in the one who believes, but in order for Him to change our life style, we have to allow Him; He will never go over our wills.

The reason why so many Christians are struggling with Christianity is because they believe but, their hearts hasn’t been regenerated by the Spirit of God. Some Christians are attending secular concerts, listening and dancing to secular music, drinking alcoholic beverages,  smoking cigarettes and blunts, fornicating as well as committing adultery. How can a Christian be a witness to the unbeliever when they themselves are doing what the unbeliever are doing? This is why the Father has instructed us to separate ourselves, not meaning we don’t associate  with them, but we don’t suppose to live according to their standards. There should be a difference between the believer and the unbeliever’s behavior.

Being filled with the Spirit of God enables us to live according to the Word of God, He is our helper. The more we submit to Him, the more He will refine us to the point when God looks at us, He will see His reflection in us.  When our hearts has been regenerated, our desires changes, we no longer desire the things the world has to offer, but our affections will be on heavenly things. If we’re in Christ and He is in us; there is no way we would desire the things we use to desire prior to becoming born-again.

The Apostle Paul stated he would sing with an understanding, and he would sing in the Spirit, he would pray with an understanding and he would pray in the Spirit, doing this is faith building. Praying in the Spirit helps our infirmities such as sadness, loneliness, anger, doubt, and fear. It also assist the individual to be praying for the things God desires us to pray for.

We cannot pray in the Spirit, if the Holy Spirit is not indwelling our beings. The Holy Spirit is a gift from God to every believer, its nothing we can earn through works, but through faith. (If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him – Luke 11:13).
