In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings to deep for words, and He who searches the heart knows what the mind of the Spirit is because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God – Romans 8:26-27.
When we don’t know how to express the words that need to be prayed, if we allow the Holy Spirit, He will intercede in our prayer to the Father.
We often pray with the intellect, hitting and missing what God will have us pray for. In today’s Christian community, many Christians haven’t experienced the Holy Spirit praying through them; some because they aren’t aware the Holy Spirit will pray through them, and others because they haven’t been filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is aware of everything; nothing is hidden from Him. When we have a consistent prayer life and submit ourselves to God, the Holy Spirit will prompt our spirit to pray for certain situations and people. Sometimes He will have you praying with moans and groans because of the severity of the situation.
We cannot intercede in the Spirit unless the Spirit of God is indwelling our human spirit. The Holy Spirit will come and live within our human spirit when we have committed ourselves to live according to the Word of God. The Holy Spirit knows the heart of God, and He will pray for those things that God desires to be prayed for. He also knows what’s in our hearts and what we desire to pray but can’t formulate the words to pray.
Jesus told Nicodemus He had to be born again of the Spirit, indicating He needed more than just salvation to enter into the kingdom of God (Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God (John 3:5). The Holy Spirit is a gift from God to the believer, all one has to do is be committed to serving God according to His Word and ask for the Holy Spirit.
(If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him – Luke 11:13). Every professing Christian should be asking the Father for the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit assist us to pray directly to the Father, He will lead and guide us in truth and discernment. The Holy Spirit will also assist us to praise the Father in the Spirit when we cannot think of words to express His majesty. Allow the Holy Spirit to pray; if you haven’t received Him, ask the Father, who will give you the gift that will excel your spiritual growth.
You haven’t experienced Christianity until you received the Spirit of the Living God indwelling your physical body. He’s the one that makes the Fruit of the Spirit manifest in us. He’s the one that perfects the gifts God has given to His children. If you haven’t been filled with the Holy Spirit, I advise you to ask the Father; a reminder, He will only indwell those who will commit to living according to the Word of God.
Many believe when they received salvation, they received the Holy Spirit; if that were so, Jesus wouldn’t have instructed His disciples to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promise, which was the Holy Spirit (And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father which saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence – Acts 1:4-5). Secondly, Jesus instructs His disciples to ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit; the Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost are the same. Jesus’ disciples received salvation but had not been baptized in the Holy Spirit.
This is why Jesus instructed them to go and wait for the promise. If the believer which is a disciple, received the Holy Spirit when they received salvation, there would be no need for them to ask for it. When we surrender to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to pray for us, He will pray for situations and circumstances we’re unaware of.
He will pray exactly for what the Father wants prayed for. When you have a life of prayer, the Holy Spirit will sometime wake you, and you can feel the prayer inwardly. Through the Holy Spirit, we commune with God in spirit and truth. Without the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the Fruit of the Spirit will not manifest.
To grow in the Spirit, the Spirit must be residing in us. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is more than speaking in tongues; it’s more than dancing around the church. It is He that helps us communicate with the Father; He strengthens us to live according to God’s instructions. He helps us to love everyone the way Jesus has instructed the believer to love.
Every denomination can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit when they are willing to live according to God’s holy Word.
